Africa’s stories – The talent of the young Tsegai
Danait Tsegai ha soli 17 anni, vive ad Asmara in Eritrea e ama le lingue. A 15 anni, appena due anni fa, iniziò ad andare in bici ottenendo fin da subito buoni risultati; adesso Danait è una sprinter e gira il mondo sognando di diventare una professionista.
Danait Tsegai is just 17 years old, she lives in Asmara in Eritrea and she loves the languages. When she was 15 years old, just two years ago, she started to ride her bike getting immediately good results; now Danait is a sprinter and she is travelling the world dreaming to become a professional cyclist.
Lo scorso anno ha esordito al Mondiale su strada di Innsbruck concludendo il durissimo percorso al 74° posto. Ad ottobre partecipò agli Youth Olympic Games in Argentina ottenendo un buon 22° posto, Danait concluse la prova sulle strade di Buenos Aires nel gruppo che si giocò il secondo posto.
Last year she made a debut during the World Championship of Innsbruck, where she concluded her performance on the very hard itinerary getting the seventy-fourth place. In October she participated in Youth Olympic Games in Argentina getting a good twenty-second place, Danait completed her performance on the Buenos Aires’ roads in the group that “struggled” for the second place.
Nel 2019 invece Danait ha ottenuto prima un secondo posto nella prova a cronometro dei Campionati Continentali Africani in Etiopia, poi la fantastica vittoria nella prova in linea. Successivamente è andata in Rwanda per correre e vincere a sorpresa la Anoca Zone 5 Youth Games 2019. Dopo questi eccellenti risultati è volata in Sudafrica nel centro dell’UCI (Unione Ciclistica Internazionale) ad allenarsi per un mese. Adesso si trova ad Aigle, dove c’è il centro principale dell’UCI. Danait trascorrerà tre mesi in Svizzera per preparare al meglio la prova a cronometro e su strada dei prossimi Campionati del Mondo Junior.
In 2019 Danait before has gotten a second place in the time trial in the Continental African Championship in Ethiopia, later the wonderful victory in the road race. At a later time she went to Rwanda to race and win surprising the Anoca Zona 5 Youth Games 2019. After these excellent results she “flown” to South Africa in the UCI’s (Union Cycliste Internationale) Center to train for one month. Now she is in Aigle, where there is the principal UCI’s Center. Danait will spend three months in Switzerland to best prepare the time trial and road race of the next World Championship Junior.
