Saymon Mussie ha 21 anni, vive a Manchester in Gran Bretagna ma è nato ad Asmara in Eritrea in una famiglia numerosa, due fratelli e quattro sorelle. A 14 iniziò ad andare in bici con una MTB, sognando di indossare un giorno la maglia di leader in una gara a tappe collinare. Saymon è uno scalatore, pesa 59 kg ed è alto 1.78 m.
Saymon ha corso quattro anni con squadre eritree, poi tre anni con la nazionale eritrea. Nel 2017 ha vinto il Massawa Circuit in Eritrea, ha ottenuto numerosi buoni piazzamenti e ha partecipato ai mondiali di Bergen a settembre. Successivamente ha concluso il Tour du Faso in seconda posizione e il Tour du Rwanda in diciassettesima posizione. Nel 2018 ha corso in una squadra boliviana Continental chiamata Start Team Gusto, gareggiando in Gabon e Rwanda ma anche in Portogallo, Belgio, Francia, Germania, Olansa e Polonia. Quest’anno ha fatto qualche gara in Gran Bretagna con il Team Wheelguru ottenendo dei buoni risultati, ma sta cercando un team per tornare a correre a buoni livelli.
Saymon si ispira a Romain Bardet, oltre al ciclismo ama fare il turista e visitare posti nuovi. Non gli piace leggere ma adora mangiare pesce con verdure e guardare i grandi giri alla televisione.

Africa’s stories – Mussie: an ambitious and promising climber
Saymon Mussie is 21 years old, he lives in Manchester in Great Britain but he is born in Asmara in Eritrea in a numerous family, he has two brothers and four sisters. When he was 14 years old, he started to ride a bike with a MTB, dreaming to wear one day the leader’s jersey in a hilly stage race. Saymon is a climber, he weighs 59 kg and he is 1.78 m high.
Saymon has raced four seasons with Eritrean teams, then he has raced three years with the National team of Eritrea. In 2017 he has won Massawa Circuit in Eritrea, he has gotten plenty good placement and he has participated in the World Championship of Bergen in September. At a later time he has concluded the Tour du Faso on second place and the Tour du Rwanda in 17th position. He has raced on a Bolivian Continental team called Start Team Gusto, racing in Gabon and Rwanda but also in Portugal, Belgium, France, Germany, Netherlands and Poland. This year he has made some races in Great Britain with Wheelguru Team getting some good results, but he is searching a team to come back to race at good levels.
Saymon takes inspiration from Romain Bardet, other cycling he loves to make the tourist and visit new places. He doesn’t like to read but he wishes to eat fish with vegetables and watch the Grand Tour on the television.
